Kailey Filson - Strength and Conditioning Specialist

Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Kailey attended Lakehead University where she completed an
undergraduate degree in kinesiology, as well as a Master of Science degree in kinesiology, with a focus on
sport psychology. Once she completed her schooling, she decided it was time to move, and Ottawa was
where she landed. Once settled in the nation’s capital, Kailey attained her Certified Strength and
Conditioning Specialist certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, along with
her Certified Personal Trainer certificate from the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. Kailey is
also a Registered Kinesiologist.

Kailey works with both the Peak Academy as well as the Peak Centre. With the Academy, she runs the
Senior Fitness classes, as well as teaches the grade 12 Introduction to Kinesiology course. On the Peak
Centre side of things, she does physiology assessments in the lab, and works with clients in the training
centre.

She has experience working in fitness settings with children, young adults, varsity athletes, military
personnel, general population, as well as specific populations focused on physical rehabilitation. Kailey also
worked as a Teaching Assistant during her graduate degree, where she ran kinesiology labs for first year
students. Having been a student-athlete herself in the sport of cycling and mountain biking, she
understands the demands from both school and sport.
In her free time, Kailey loves spending time with her daughter and husband doing anything outside. Paddle
boarding, hiking, skiing, and cycling are a few of her favourite activities. Excited for all her experience and
schooling to come together at Peak, Kailey strives to be at her best for all the Peak Academy students and
Peak Centre clients who give their best every day.
